# Publish a Message

> Publish an announcement to follower channels.

The **Publish a Message** block lives in the **Messages** palette category. Publish an announcement to follower channels.

## What it does

Publishes an announcement message to follower channels.

## Configuration

Open the block in the builder sidebar to configure these fields.

### `channel_id`

**Type:** `channel`.

Announcement channel. Optional when Message ID references a Send a Message block from this flow.

### `message_id`

**Type:** `block-reference`. Required.

Snowflake id, variable, or Send a Message block picked from the canvas.
